At airport. Go to bangkok now. So broken. We ate the mean food yesterday for lunch and then had a nap and then lisa got sick and then i got sick. I still feel the sick but lisa is better. Now she only has her head sinus sick left. We will maybe have a nap in bangkok and maybe wake up feeling nice again. I hope so.
Over the last few days we went to a few different paradises. The first paradise was Karon beach in Phuket. Miles of soft sandy beach and warm clear water and ridiculously good looking sunsets. However, this paradise was adjacent to a weird tourist-trap-only town with a high percentage of Russian or quasi-Russians. We wouldnt mind if it weren't for the tiny speedos and the overall rude. We loved our little hotel and ended up spending most of our time there. We swam in the rooftop pool and had naps and tried to avoid the hottest of the hot because we were getting burned.
On Tuesday, we attempted a spectacular hotel transfer from Karon to Railay Bay. Railay is a boat-access-only peninsula on the other side of the andaman sea. We booked a tour of the Phi Phi islands on a "small" 20-person speedboat. We planned to do the morning tour of Phi Phi Ley and snorkeling, and expected to miss the afternoon parts after lunch in Phi Phi Don. We would stay on Phi Phi Don and then catch a ferry to Railay, while our speedboat went in the other direction.
(Now we are in Bangkok and it's the next day and I am continuing to write. I just slept for 15 of the last 18 hours and i feel better... For now...)
But then the tides were wrong, so Phi Phi Ley was rescheduled for afternoon and we were going to miss that, which really was the whole point. Not the best. Our guide saved the day by making arrangements for us to go to all the stops, get dropped off and make our ferry. We would just have to pay for extra gas for the three mega engines. So it worked out and we saw the most beautiful beach and lagoon ever and we snorkeled and we saw sharks (little sharks) and we got on our ferry. And fell asleep lol.
There is no dock to dismount the ferry at Railay, so chaos ensues. Thai people yell in Thai while white people push and shove to be first to I don't know. Finally we get our luggage and get into a long tail boat and go tp the shore. Lisa says, where are we staying here? And i get to point to the close hotel and say That one! Best news ever.
Check in, then sunset and beers and dinner, then a bit of a walk and then the sleep.
The next day we took the path to the lagoon. Until the path turned 70 degrees vertical. Then we kept going to another part of Railay with a very nice beach and very nice Karsts. We made our way back to sit by the pool and talked with nice Americans on their honeymoon.
Then we made bad choice. No, we wont eat at hotel, we will walk down thia path and eat at the food poisoning restaurant. It was delicious until we woke up from nap and were throwing up. Asia is kicking our asses.
We slept like crap and Lisa felt better the next day but i was a zombie hoping to not throw up on the transportation. Lisa feeling "better" means happy tummy and does not include her eye pressure sinus headache. We took long tail boat then taxi then airplane then taxi to the Bangkok hotel. Its really nice. We ate McDonalds! Then i had a nap and Lisa got did up and we went to eat at fancy restaurant Nahm. It was extremely delicious. We did set menu and I nibbled and Lisa had a little more but we left so much. We were little people! Then home to the bed and sleeping.
I woke up today to find out that Lisa is tummy sick again. Which probably means that it is just a matter of time before it hits me too, we ate all the same stuff. Asia is just giving us a beat down. Sorry Derek for suggesting you just need to drink more, that can only do so much. We of course realise its super lame that we are in Bangkok for the first time and sequestering ourselves to our hotel, but we can't and don't really want to go anywhere right now. Everytime we eat in Thailand we get sick so its the worst. Tomorrow we go to vietnam where they didn't poison us yet, maybe it will be better there. We are both homesick for our own bed and our own food and our normal life right now. Hopefully that passes though and we can enjoy this last week of the trip.
Yay asia?
All in all we went to five different paradises. Even though it attacked us, we liked Railay the best. Then Phi Phi Ley, Phi Phi Don, Bamboo Island, and finally little Russia, Karon. All were awesome though.
(Lisa was convinced that ol' saggy nips here was going to rip my face off. But finally we saw monkeys!!)
